| The Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) and the Snyder Innovation Management Center at the Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University thank the prominent innovation scholars who generously shared their time and insights with doctoral students at the 2024 PDMA Doctoral Consortium. Over 50 participants, faculty and doctoral student fellows, from Europe, India, and the U.S., attended the consortium held from July 30-August 2, 2024. On a historical note, the PDMA was
founded in 1976 by 3 professors, including David Wilemon, a Syracuse University faculty member and PDMA’s 3rd president, to professionalize new product development and its academic study. Grounded in and building on its founding goal, the 2024 consortium agenda featured faculty sessions on cutting-edge research and small-group meetings to provide feedback to doctoral students on their dissertation proposals. In addition, a company visit to Baxter to see “innovation in action,” and a dinner cruise helped facilitate formal and informal networking to build an international “community of learning” among innovation scholars.
