2023 Innovation Spend & Trends Report
|
|
|
The latest edition of the Innovation Spend & Trends Report has just been released onsite at this year’s FEI: Front End of Innovation conference, held in Boston. PDMA President Susan Penta was a part of the presentation panel. Brought to you by FEI, All Things Innovation, and PDMA, this benchmarking report showcases how innovation leaders are changing mindsets, shifting priorities and spending allocations as they balance their innovation efforts with the current economic environment.
The FEI, All Things Innovation, and PDMA communities completed a comprehensive survey covering what innovation executives are thinking, how they’re spending and the issues they face. Per the results, this is a senior-level, experienced, cross-industry group that signals a broad range of business-oriented preferences and strategic insights focused on the innovation industry as a whole.
In terms of the big picture, a key question in this year’s survey was, “Is innovation in a downturn/recession more about cutting costs or finding new revenue streams?” Find out what innovation executives had to say about this topic in this year’s report. The full report can be viewed HERE.

New kHUB Content
- Are you struggling with the best, most effective NPD process to develop your organization’s offerings? Most enterprises have difficulty developing products effectively. Often, the most common stressor is a sense of uncertainty. Decision-making in the face of uncertainty is a defining characteristic of product development. Mary Drotar and Kathy Morrissey have developed and share an introduction of their Exploratory Product Development approach to reducing uncertainty in NPD in a new article posted as part of kHUB’s Product Innovation Process section.
- A reminder that kHUB links to JPIM’s Academic articles! This allows you to access the abstracts and practitioner points on kHUB before delving into the full article in JPIMWe’ve just posted from the March and May 2023 issues. We’ve added the following to the Market Research in Product Innovation section of kHUB:
- PDMA’s local chapters continue to hold on-line events. We post the recordings and presentations from the local events on kHUB’s Local Chapter Content - on Demand for you to access and view at your convenience. We’re catching up posting on some of past events from some of the chapters. Check out these from St Louis and Carolinas
- The kHUB Curator Team members have each been assigned a BoK section to own. This includes seeking, editing and sharing content related to that section. The curators are also sharing their perspective of various sub-sections of their chapter and contributing personal examples, experience, or related articles corresponding to the subject matter.
