2022 JPIM Research Forum — Call for Papers
The 2022 JPIM Annual Research Forum, powered by the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA), seeks various types of conference submissions from scholars from all disciplines who share a common interest in new product development and innovation management. The JPIM Research Forum is part of the PDMA conference and will offer networking opportunities with scholars, practitioners, the JPIM’s Editorial Team, and the PDMA community.

Mark Adkins is the CEO of LeanMed, a medical device company dedicated to bringing essential treatment to remote, underserved regions through innovative technologies. Lean Med's first product, the solar-powered O2 Cube, delivers vital supplemental oxygen to patients in rural health clinics and hospitals in developing nations. With respiratory infections killing millions of patients each year, the O2 Cube is a landmark step in improving care and saving lives.
Mark is also an advisor at the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Medical Innovation. He advises on innovation management to educate the next generation of innovators in the design, development, and commercialization of medical technologies.
During his corporate career, Mark was director of product development at Cincinnati Machine where he spearheaded the design of their new product development process that was recognized by the PDMA as its Outstanding Corporate Innovator. Mark was then fortunate enough to be a director of product development at another OCI winner, Kennametal, where he successfully integrated independent development teams from Europe, Asia, and N. America to launch three next-generation product lines. During his career, Mark and his teams have led development projects that have launched numerous new products with lifetime sales of over $1B.
In his free time, Mark enjoys golf, walking, and raising fish.

- Students currently enrolled full-time at a university academic program either in an undergraduate or graduate level (at the time the work for the submission was developed).
What
- A submission of an original concept for a product, service, software, or a combination of the three, detailing the unique value proposition, evidence of demand, and mock-up or embodiment of the concept.
